Well as in my previous post, I started drinking water. Lots of it! I read that you should drink 1/2 ounce of water for every pound that you weigh. I can say this seemed impossible. That would mean I would be drinking over 100 ounces of water a day. So I started carrying a 1.5 liter (approximately 50 ounces) of water with me to work daily. Each day that I finished the bottle before leaving the office, I praised myself. Each day I did not finish my bottle, I told myself, "Tomorrow will be better." And so it was. Over time, the 1.5 liter bottle wasn't enough for me to bring. I could feel my body desiring more and more water. On days that I was busy and could not drink so much water, my body felt sluggish; I would get headaches; I would feel parched. That is when I realized how much the body needs water. Many people feel their stomach growl and think they are hungry... Well, I learned that most of the time your body is telling you it wants water.
One trick I learned to help drink the water was to add citrus fruit slices or wedges to it. A slice of lime, orange, grapefruit, lemon ... they all tricked your taste buds into believing you are not drinking water - again! Plus, cucumber tasted nice in it as well. I read one woman's recommendation to add a packet of Splenda or Sweetenlow to a 1.5 liter bottle also helps to get the water down.
Now I can tell you that I still am drinking over 100 ounces of water most days - even though my body probably only needs about 70%. The days I don't I feel it!
